GENERAL BENEFITS OF HATHA YOGA
The postures help make the body supple, firm and resistant to environmental stress.
They help prevent stiffening of the joints and increase mobility.
They generally stimulate all the body systems, including the endocrine and nervous systems.
Muscles that learn to stretch properly are less likely to be subjected to sudden injury. Joints are also kept flexible.
Circulation is enhanced so oxygen and nutrients are carried more effectively to the tissues and the four waste systems of the body work better.
A body that is balanced, supple, strong and healthy will help to encourage those same qualities, including calm in the mind.
Breathing which is steady, calm, deep and full will enhance stamina, combat disease and build up resistance to infection. It will also help to produce calming of the mind and emotions.
Concentration will help people to develop their minds and skills and to realise their inner potential, as they get to know themselves.
Yoga relaxation helps body, mind and breath to work skilfully i.e. to use minimum energy for maximum effect, in everyday life.
Yoga well practised should
Cure sometimes
Relieve often
Relax always
